Duality

To be fair, I’ve been dealt a really shitty hand of cards for my life. I can’t even begin to explain and elaborate in detail the specificities of the trauma i went through since the second I came out of the womb.

People never know or sense this, though. I assume this is because I really do try to push myself to look for the good in situations. Yet, I have to stay grounded. I’ve been so caught up in the universe’s love lately that I wasn’t in touch with what was hurting me in my reality and how I can utilize the universe’s love to heal that pain. We have to remember to connect with what is the divine while reminding ourselves we are people on this earth that have to deal with what was dealt to us in the human condition.

Duality.

The definition of duality is defined by Merriam-Webster as, “the quality or state of having two different or opposite parts of elements.”

How do we stay connected to life’s energy that we all surrounded by while acknowledging the reality of our day to day? The fact that we are all made up of light through love yet have to experience darkness through pain our whole lives is the complicated duality of human nature itself!

“Reality is negotiable.”

Is it?

I think to an extent, it can be. You can choose to connect with the energy of universal love that we are all surrounded by or you can choose to ignore it. The option you choose, though, will definitely change your perception of reality.

Yet, there are some parts of reality we truly have no control over. For example, my younger sister was born with cerebral palsy, hydrocephalus, and epilepsy. Oh yeah, she’s also legally blind. While my sister is one of the most loving and extremely positive people I’ve ever met, I don’t think she can just “connect with earth’s energy” and all of a sudden be able to see clearly. These are the parts of reality that come with the human condition that we have to accept and navigate.

What we can control, though, is our reaction to these conditions and how they effect us. If I was blind and had 3 disabilities on top of that, I would be a miserable fuck. However, my sister has chosen to not let it restrict her happiness or her life. She’s in college now (which is INCREDIBLE by the way, considering she was told at a young age she would never be able to even write her own name), she’s got quite the social life, and she just fucking does shit that makes her happy!

Does this change the fact that she can’t see? Or that she shakes when dressing herself? Or her seizures? Absolutely not. And the day to day effects of those struggles will remain throughout her life. However, she chooses to find pockets of light & love throughout her life to balance this and keep herself happy. The most beautiful part? She doesn’t even realize she’s doing it.

It’s natural.

The duality in human nature is one of the most beautiful things the earth gave us. We hold the ability to love with lightness even though we are constantly being pained with darkness.

We can choose to live obliviously — ignoring the darkness of reality. We can choose to live factually — ignoring the universal love we can’t physically touch but we are consistently surrounded by. Or, we can choose to make peace with our duality. We can live in ethereal love while acknowledging the realities of what is the human condition.
